The Bedford Art Steering Committee has organized a show of Dick Simon’s photographs that portray the untold human stories behind the headlines in regions of conflict around the world. Sharing his experiences, Simon bridges the gap between “us” and “them”.

Simon will be present for a reception and gallery talk on Saturday, May 17, from 5 to 6 pm.

The photographs and Simon’s personal accounts from Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestine have appeared in the Huffington Post, NPR/PBS, the Boston Globe, and other major media. His work has been on exhibit across the US and he has given presentations using his images and stories to enhance awareness and educate.

The exhibit runs from May 8 through July 9 at the Bedford Free Public Library. The public is welcome.

kNOw THEM fits right into the Love your Neighbor campaign that was initiated due to recent antisemitic incidents in Bedford.

Simon is the co-Founder and Chair of the YPO Peace Action Network (PAN), engaging over 20,000 business leaders in 130 countries utilizing their expertise, relationships and resources to make a difference globally. Although he travels extensively, he emphasizes that it is equally important to break down perceived barriers locally. Dick will give a brief talk about T-H-E-M, the worst four-letter word in the English language, at the Bedford Library on May 17 and will be back for a presentation at the Community College in September, exploring the impact of stereotypes and ways to better understand our own biases.

The Bedford Public Library is located at 7 Mudge Way, 781-275-9440, www.bedfordlibrary.net. The exhibit is open during regular Library hours: Monday through Thursday 9-9, Friday 9-6, and Saturday, 9-5.
