Submitted by Bedford’s Community Emergency Response Team

There will be a kick-off meeting for Bedford’s Citizen Corp Emergency Response Team (CERT) on Monday October 6 in the Flint Room at Town Center, beginning at 6:30 pm.  Interested individuals are invited to contact Bedford’s Health Director Heidi Porter  at (781) 687-6158, or Bedford Fire Captain Mark Sullivan at (781) 275-5266 x 103 for more information, or to register.

Because the Town of Bedford is actively seeking to increase our pool of citizen corps volunteers the Fire Department has partnered with the Board of Health and Police Department to present an accelerated training program in the core areas that are identified as priority training. These include incident command and communications, traffic management and crowd control, shelter management, emergency dispensing site management, first aid and CPR and search and rescue. Registration is required for all trainings and participants may sign up online.

Bedford’s CC/CERT volunteers will be given enrollment priority, until October 3rd when the trainings will be open to our regional partners.
