UPDATE: Bedford High School’s October 1 Email Bomb Threat

October 9, 2014

Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

Over the past eight days the Boston Globe (https://bit.ly/1nZ01nj) and other media have reported an accumulation of bomb threats emailed to schools, including the one received last Wednesday by Bedford High School Principal Dr. Henry Turner.

At approximately the same time as Bedford’s incident, emailed bomb threats were received at the Middle School and High School in Bedford, NH, and at the Sandy Hook Elementary School’s temporary quarters in Monroe, CT. Since October 1, additional bomb threats have been received by multiple towns in Eastern Massachusetts.

While some similarities are noted among the media reports, no official statement has corroborated any of the rumored commonalities.

Bedford’s Police Chief Robert Bongiorno said in an email interview on October 7, “The investigation is still active and ongoing. This investigation is complex and time consuming because it presents many moving parts. We are committed with our other law enforcement partners to vigorously investigate and hold those individuals accountable for this felonious criminal act upon our community.”
