Warrant Highlights for Bedford’s Special Town Meeting on Thursday, November 6

Old Town Seal - STM 2014On October 6 the Selectmen approved the warrant for the Special Town Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 6 at 7:30 pm at the high school. The meeting is open to all registered voters.

The full warrant will be mailed to each household shortly, and is available on line by clicking Warrant – Special Town Meeting – November 2014.

Article 3

A General By-law amendment that would expand the delay in destruction of a significant building from a period of 12 months to 18 months.

Article 4

A Zoning By-Law Amendment provides an Industrial Mixed Use Special Permit.

Article 5

Amendments to the Zoning by-law regarding tree protection, landscaping and Greenbelt provisions.

Charter Amendments, Articles 6-10:

Article 6

Miscellaneous charter amendments primarily to clarify and improve language or to be consistent with current practice.

Article 7

Charter amendment to establish a Deputy Moderator on an annual basis.

Article 9

Charter amendment to increase the Volunteer Coordination Committee size from three to five members and the increase from 30 to 60 days the time allowed for providing names of volunteers.

Article 10

Charter amendment to increase the number of signatures for a recall petition from 10 to 20 percent of the registered voters.

Additional Warrant Articles

Article 12

Continuation of the Community Preservation surcharge at 3% of taxes.

Article 13

A bond authorization for Town Hall building systems replacement. Appropriation would replace mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems which are over 25 years old.

Article 16

Amendment of the Ambulance Enterprise Budget in order to provide advanced life support services.

Article 17

Appropriation of funds to support the police collective bargaining agreement.
