OneDayPlay600The Bedford High School Drama Club will present One Day Plays on Saturday, December 13th at 7:00 PM at the Bedford High School auditorium.

This event is a new addition to the Drama Department at Bedford High School, created by Senior student Michael Mahoney. Five teams of five students each will write, rehearse, and perform original ten-minute plays over the course of a single day.

Mahoney had heard about colleges and other theater groups participating in twenty-four hour play festivals, and he wanted to bring this concept to BHS. He worked with BHS Drama Club advisors Katrina Faulstich and Michael Poe to come up with a version of this festival that would be appropriate for high school. In BHS’s festival, one student writer from each team will write a script from 6:00 PM to midnight on Friday, December 12th. Then, the writers, actors, and directors will meet at BHS on Saturday morning to design and rehearse the plays. All of this will culminate in the evening’s performance at 7:00 PM in the BHS Auditorium.

One Day Plays serves as a precursor to BHS’s annual Tournament of Plays, which will take place in May this year. In the Tournament of Plays, a team of students from each grade will write and perform in their own play over the course of several weeks.

The performance is free and open to the public. Contact: [email protected]
