My name is Dan Brosgol and it gives me great pleasure to formally announce my candidacy for the position that will be vacated in March on the Bedford School Committee.

In my professional life I am an educator and educational administrator with 15 years of experience in teaching and program management. I currently direct the department of youth education at Hebrew College in Newton, where I oversee both a school for students in grade 6-12 and a full slate of travel and leadership programs for teenagers, with an overall budget in excess of $2 million. In my desire to always grow as an educator and leader, I am also pursuing a doctorate in Education at Northeastern University. In my work I am known for my passion and dedication to students, my ability to make tough decisions, and my ability to think creatively and entrepreneurially about solving complicated issues.

When I’m not at work I am busy helping Elizabeth Brosgol to raise five unique and amazing children, whose ages range from 11 years to 7 months old.  And while I am currently a parent of three kids at three different public schools, in just a few years all five of our kids will be spread out across Bedford’s four different schools. In fact our family will have children in the schools for 23 consecutive years- from 2008-2031. My relationship with the schools in town is going to last for a long, long time, and I have a vested interest in helping to make sure they remain as strong as they always have been.

Beyond being a parent of school-aged children and a resident of Bedford since 2007, I am active in Bedford through coaching youth sports, writing for The Bedford Citizen, and service on the Lane School Advisory Committee. I am excited to bring my own experience as an educator, manager, and parent to the School Committee and look forward to learning not just about the schools, but about the critical role that the schools play in making Bedford such an amazing place to live.

In the coming weeks I look forward to speaking with many of you about the upcoming election and the critical issues facing the Bedford schools. Please be in touch with me if you’d like to get involved with my campaign, share some of your concerns, or just to get to know me better. I look forward to an enjoyable election process and to hopefully representing you on the committee.
