Whole FoodsEvery month Whole Foods Market Bedford gives to local non-profits in the community whether that is providing a snack table for local road races, register donations, coat drives, benefit barbeques or sponsoring local school organizations.

We focus our giving on organizations involved with environmental preservation, preventative health care, hunger relief, organic farming and sustainable food resources. Our team members love getting involved and volunteering at community non-profits. Last year our team members cooked and served a meal for the attendees of the weekly Bedford Food Pantry dinner and we plan to do so again in 2015.

We are committed to supporting the communities we serve. Four times each year, we host 5% days, when we donate 5% of the day’s after tax profits back to a 501C3 non-profit organization that serves the community. Our latest 5% Day on January 15th, 2015 will go to support Kid’s Cooking Green who provide food education and outreach to children in many of our surrounding communities. Kid’s Cooking Green teaches about agriculture with visits to local farms and offers hands on healthy eating classes for children. We absolutely support the mission to connect children to local food producers and expand healthy food education.

We also donate all of the food from our store on a rotating basis to local food pantries so that we can provide food to people in need our community while reducing food waste and our carbon footprint. The Whole Foods Market North Atlantic region donated over one million pounds of food to local food banks and food pantries in 2014.

Our Local Producer Loan Program provides up to $10 million in low-interest loans to small, local producers. Whole Foods Market lends money to small, local, independent producers to help them expand their businesses. We have completed loans to organic vegetable farmers, a heritage turkey grower, a nutritional protein bar maker, a maker of body care products, and many others.
