First Parishioner Hanna Papanek will share the film “They Were Not Silent” – a 30-minute documentary about the Jewish Labor Committee’s Anti-Nazi movement in America before, during and after World War 2.

The film features rare archival footage and photographs along with interviews with labor veterans, Holocaust survivors and scholars. It explores how international Jewry worked to help Jews and non-Jews in Germany, Poland and elsewhere in Europe.

Hanna was interviewed for the film. We will watch the film together, she will discuss it in the context of her own experiences, and will share her research of the Jewish Labor Committee. We will also provide time for questions and answers. This is a very moving film about an important part of ALL of our history.

We are holding the Lyceum from 12:30-2:00pm, in Room 202, so that as many people as possible can come, including others in the community. Using the Elm Street entrance, First Parish is fully accessible.

Please plan to come and bring friends.
