Bedford Garden Club’s Digging Brigade

Submitted by Carol Amick for the Bedford Garden Club

Bedford Garden Club logoThe Bedford Garden Club’s “Digging Brigade,” organized a couple years ago to assist Garden Club members and other Bedford residents dig perennials for the club’s annual Geranium, Perennial and Floral Arrangement Sale, has begun its work more slowly this spring, due to the snow and wet ground conditions.

Each year the Garden Club receives donations of perennials from Bedford residents’ gardens to be sold as part of the club’s fundraiser in May.  The Digging Brigade, comprised of a few club members, does all the digging and potting for residents and club members unable to perform these tasks themselves.  This year the sale is on Saturday, May 9th, the day before Mother’s Day.

The May 9th sale is the club’s biggest annual fundraiser, and helps to support its scholarship and civic programs in town.  In addition to perennials, hundreds of geraniums and flower arrangements will be sold.

Residents interested in donating for this cause may contact Carol Amick (781-275-5278) to donate any type of perennials and arrange for the Digging Brigade’s assistance.
