The Bedford Garden Club’s annual plant sale will be held Saturday, May 9 – the day before Mother’s Day, from 10 am – 3 pm in front of the Bedford DPW Building, 314 The Great Road.

On sale will be hundreds of geraniums in light and dark pinks, coral, red and white; hanging plants; perennials dug from the gardens of Garden Club members and other Bedford residents; and three sizes of floral arrangements made by club members – and perfect for Mother’s Day gifts.

New this year will be a larger assortment of “edibles” – vegetable plants like lettuces, kale, collards, herbs, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and blueberry and raspberry bushes that can be planted in “cold” soil.

This year’s sale also will feature a raffle of The Earth Machine, a popular compost machine with a 10-year warranty.  Tickets will be sold during the geranium sale, with the drawing at 3 pm.  Ticket purchasers do not have to be present to win.

This annual fundraiser will benefit the Garden Club’s scholarship and civic programs.  The club is well known in Bedford for its volunteer work to plant perennials and annuals at traffic islands, corners and public buildings throughout heavily-traveled areas of Bedford.  All spring, summer and fall, club members work at the islands, planting, watering and weeding, to create beautiful gardens for all to enjoy.

The coordinators of this year’s sale are Garden Club President Carol Amick and Fundraising Committee Chair Maureen Levine.  Over 50 club members are involved with this event.
