The garden at Lane School will soon be the focus of professional attention by Roger Cook of Ask This Old House, the popular home improvement program seen on WGBH-TV. Cook will be assisted by four students, representing their grade or Lane’s Green Team.

Assistant Principal Keith Kinney is the school’s point person, but choosing students to participate proved more complex than anticipated. Entries flooded into the office from would-be TV stars. A host of teachers stepped in to read the entries, letting Kinney know that the decisions were not easy because of the care and talent that went into the entries.

In the end, three students were selected to participate along with the president of the school’s Green Team, 5th Grade student Suzie M. Grade 3 student Hayden M submitted a video, Grade 4 student Faith C submitted an essay, and Grade 5 student Keira D composed a poem. Assistant Principal Kinney thanked all the students who submitted entries, and is closely watching the weather for filming day.
