After the briefest of springs, there’s a summery feeling in the air and this Saturday we’re looking at 87 degrees and sunny for one of Bedford’s grandest late-May traditions: Player Appreciation Day for Bedford Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball.

JGMS will be the focal point of all baseball and softball-related activities on Saturday, so swing by anytime to catch an assortment of games, trophy presentations, and other family-friendly activities. There will games at I Field (next to JGMS), C Field (next to Sabourin Field) and E Field (across from the library) throughout the day, including the National League (grades 3-5) All-Star Game at 10:00 and the American League (grades 5-7) All-Star Game at 11:30.

  • 10:00am – National All Star Game @ C Field
  • 11:30am – American All Star Game @ I Field
  • 12:30pm – T-Ball Trophy Presentation @ outside JGMS tennis courts
  • 1:15pm – K-1 Softball Trophy Presentation @ outside JGMS tennis courts
  • 1:30pm – Farm Trophy Presentation @ outside JGMS tennis courts
  • 1:30pm – SB Majors – Red Sox vs Lexington Dodgers softball @ C Field
  • 1:30pm – SB Minors – Blue Claws vs Lexington Hooks @ E Field
  • 1:45pm – Farm Baseball Game @ I Field (Use D Field if 2nd field is needed)
  • 3:30pm – SB Majors – Cardinals vs Lexington Rockies @ C Field
  • 4:00pm – SB Majors – Athletics vs C-C Blue @ E Field

So grab your hat, your sunscreen, and your camera, and join in the celebration. At the very least you’ll enjoy a warm day, see lots of adorable kids in uniform, and watch one of the few remaining pure things in sports- kids playing and having fun.
