Following a long standing custom, the Young Adult and Children’s librarians will visit the elementary schools next week to introduce the summer reading programs hosted at the Library.

“Every Hero Has a Story” is the 2015 summer reading theme, and you can be among the first to view, download or print a flyer (albeit without the library’s bright red paper) by clicking  2015 Bedford Library Summer Reading Program.

The summer reading program for young students gets off to an exciting start with “Superhero Training with Jungle Jim,” on Thursday, June 25.  There will be two shows, one at 4 pm and an evening show at 7 pm. This program is suitable for children ages three years and older. Space is limited; free tickets will be distributed at 3:30 pm for the afternoon show and at 6:30 pm for the evening show.

The Teen program begins on June 22; details are available in the Young Adult area and online at https://bfplteen.wordpress.com. This program is open to everyone going into grades 6 through 12.

Last year’s Adult summer reading program was so successful that it will be repeated between July 5 and August 31.  Anyone from 18 years up can participate.  The idea is to read books/ebooks or listen to audio books and fill out a form listing the title of the book(s) you read.  A winning form will be selected each Friday for a mini-prize and all entries will be used to select a Grand Prize Winner on August 31.

This year’s summer reading programs are sponsored by the Library, the Massachusetts Library System, the Boston Bruins, and the Massachusetts board of Library Commissioners with additional support from the Friends of the Library.
