Atlas PyroVision Entertainment Group and their production manager Dick McDowell did not disappoint Bedford in the town’s 2015 fireworks display.

Bedford chose well in selecting Atlas PyroVision for this year’s display. The company won the Gold Jupiter Award in Montreal’s prestigious 2012 International Fireworks Competition and will present Pitch Perfect Pyro! at the Festival of Fireworks on the Cheshire Fairground in Swanzey, NH, on August 15.

McDowell began setting up the show on Thursday morning at the lower field at the John Glenn Middle School so it was ready shortly before the Brass Connection began the concert that preceded the spectacular display.

By 7 pm, the empty racks of mortar tubes were filled with shells and cabled together, attaching  each shell via an electronic fuse cord to a NightHawk firing device. Several bright yellow NightHawk devices were then cabled into the main controller, operated by McDowell.

It turned out to be an amazing show, including what McDowell called a “false finale” that sparked a burst of applause when the crowd believed that the show was over, just before a final set of shells preceded the real finale that was, as promised “full of color and noise.”

With special thanks to Rick Reed, the Town of Bedford, its Selectmen and Recreation Commission; Amy Hamilton and the Recreation Department; Chief David Grunes, Captain Mark Sullivan and the Bedford Fire Department; Chief Robert Bongiorno and the Bedford Police Department; Roy Sorensen and the Department of Public Works for this spectacular event.
