redheat tavernThe Selectmen gave the final approval on July 6 for the Red Heat Tavern, which will be opened in the Bedford Marketplace shopping center in the fall. Restaurant manager Kevin Harron explained that the changes from the preliminary plan conform to the somewhat larger space in the actual leased area. The total number of square feet will be 6,014. The number of indoor seats will rise from 191 to 202 and the number of outdoor seats from 30 to 46. The outdoor area will be fenced. The seating layout shows a variety of seating options, including booths, high tables, bar seating and some larger tables for groups.  The total cost of construction is estimated at $900,000. All changes to premises must be approved under alcoholic beverage license by-laws.

Chair Mark Siegenthaler reminded Harron that the most frequent concern heard from the public was noise from outdoor seating, and he asked that the concern be kept in mind.  When asked by this reporter, Meredith McCulloch, about the number of televisions on the premises, the response was five.

The restaurant will be located to the left of Marshall’s at the rear of the shopping center. The restaurant has already been approved by the Zoning Board of Appeals, a requirement for all restaurants.
