Police Chief Robert Bongiorno and Fire Chief David Grunes are pleased to report they will host an event next week to celebrate National Night Out from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, August 4.
National Night Out is a campaign designed to promote partnerships between police and fire officials and their communities to foster relationships and improve safety in neighborhoods. It occurs the first Tuesday in August.
On Aug. 4, residents are encouraged to head to the police station, 2 Mudge Way, from 6-9 p.m. to meet some of their public safety officials.
“Think of this as an outdoor open house,” Chief Bongiorno said. “We are excited to meet, mingle and get to know our residents in an informal setting.”
Under an outside tent, a variety of police and fire displays will be set up for residents to enjoy, along with materials from local agencies that support Bedford public safety.
Raffle items from local business will also be up for grabs, with all the money collected to benefit Cops For Kids With Cancer, a nonprofit organization made up of former and current police officers that raises money to support families caring for their children with cancer.
Refreshments and samples, along with pizza and ice cream donated by Mix 104.1, will be available for children and their parents.
“This is going to be a great opportunity for fire and police to meet our residents while working to promote safety in the community,” Chief Grunes said. “We hope to see you all there.”
