Demolition of the building housing Cafe Luigi, Bank of America and b.Good is apparently scheduled, with tenants expected to vacate their premises at the end of August to make way for ‘Building B’ in the Bedford Marketplace renovation.

Café Luigi customers recently found a message on the popular restaurant’s Facebook page and a note on the door informing them that the restaurant’s last dinner service in the space they’ve occupied for 27 years will take place on Saturday, August 29. The note went on to say that the restaurant is working toward a reopening date in the spring of 2016.

Bank of America customers were notified earlier this month that safety deposit boxes will not be available in Bedford after August 28. Customers should come to the bank before that date, with the two keys to the box and photo identification. This is necessary even if the box is empty. If the box is not closed by August 28, the bank will open it by drilling the lock.  Next, the contents of the box will be shipped to the bank’s central storage area, and finally, after a certain period of time, if items are not claimed, the bank is required to transfer the contents to the state of Massachusetts. A bank employee this afternoon confirmed that the Bedford branch will move to a temporary installation on the shopping center premises at the end of August as they wait for their space in the new building.

Most employees of b.Good are planning to work in other locations during the construction and return to Bedford when their new space is ready.

All three businesses expect to move into the new building under construction behind their current location.

That old parking lot looks quite dumpy, in that shot anyway.
