Wedgewood Swim and Dive Team Wraps up the 2015 Season

Wedgewood celebrated its season earlier in the week at its annual Swim and Dive Team awards night.  Avery Kaplan, the team’s only senior swimmer, was honored for her last eligible year on the team.  Since the age of 5, she has been a dedicated team member for the past 13 years, culminating this year as both a swimmer and assistant coach.

The Wedgewood Swim and Dive team concluded another successful season with a solid showing at the Colonial League Swim Championships held on Saturday August 1^st.  The all-day event hosted by the Chelmsford Swim and Tennis club brought together swimmers from all five clubs of the Colonial League.  The diving component of the meet was held earlier in the week. 

The Westford Swim and Tennis club won the competition followed in second place by Chelmsford.  Heritage Swim and Racquet Club of Concord claimed third place followed by Wedgewood and then Wayland Swim and Tennis.   Teams earned points in each event where swimmers and divers placed 1 through 12.

Wedgewood had a strong showing of swimmers and divers who placed in the top 12.

6 & under:  Delaney Bertos (backstroke 7th, freestyle2^nd), Theresa Silver (backstroke 11^th), Owen Brough (backstroke 12^th) and Sophia Demeo (freestyle 9^th).

8 & under:  Liliana Carmen (backstroke 8^th), Charles Demeo (backstroke 7^th), Katie Dillon (Butterfly 1^st, freestyle  5^th), Devin Leida (butterfly 9^th, breaststroke 5^th), Leo Natalizio (freestyle 3^rd, backstroke 2^nd), Matthew Tonini (backstroke 4^th), Grace Weisz (breaststroke 7^th) and  Zachary Wirth (backstroke 9^th)

10 & under:  Sofie Huntington (butterfly 6^th,, freestyle 9^th), Sally MacPhee (breaststroke 5^th), Eric Miles (freestyle 7^th, backstroke 11^th), Isabella Seldon (Butterfly 4^th, diving 1^st), Sarah Tonini (breaststroke 7^th,backstroke 7^th), Kelly Warhover (individual medley 2^nd, freestyle 5^th), Charlotte Weber (individual medley 4^th, backstroke 2^nd) and Ava Venuti (breaststroke 2^nd, freestyle 8^th)
