Standing Exhibits

Bedford DPW
Across from the Police Station
As part of our on-going stormwater program, the Bedford DPW will be giving out 400 pet waste bags (always a hit) and memo pads to remind folks that only water should go down the storm drains.  On the recycling side, we have reusable shopping bags that have been recycled from plastic bottles and Ed McGrath, our new recycling coordinator, will be on hand to provide information about our Fall Recycling Event (Oct 3).  Also, the Trails Committee will be selling ($10) the first edition of our Trails Guide – a pocket size color map book highlighting 18 different areas in town for walking.  It will definitely be a best-seller!

Bedford Fire Department
Across from the Police Station
Bedford Fire Department has two major displays at Bedford Day:

  • The first will be the ladder. We took delivery last November so this will be its first Bedford Day.
  • The second will be the unveiling of our new paramedic program. Armstrong Ambulance will have their mobile simulation lab on site, Lahey Clinic will have a tent with us and two or three of our new paramedics will be on hand to display their skills in the simulation lab.

The process has taken over three years from initial internal evaluation to the beginning of the live transition, which will officially take place September 21, 2015. We could not have done it without the support of the town, all of the firefighters and partnerships with Lahey Hospital and Armstrong Ambulance. Lahey is providing physician oversight and quality assurance support through case reviews and Armstrong is providing continuing education for both the paramedics and EMTs as well as back up advanced life support
