BPDpatchChief Robert Bongiorno reports that the Bedford Police Department is investigating the Sunday evening armed robbery with an injury at a Shell Gas Station in town and is asking that anyone with information on the incident please call the department.

At approximately 9:30 on Sunday night, Bedford Police received a panic alarm from the Shell station, 358 The Great Road indicating a robbery in progress.

A suspect, armed with a knife, came into the gas station, approached the clerk and took a quantity of cash and scratch lottery tickets before fleeing.

During the incident, the clerk sustained a slashing wound to his hand. The victim was treated at the scene and declined hospitalization.

Bedford Police called in assistance to search for the suspect, who is described as a dark-skinned male, wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and a mask.

The Danvers Police Department K-9 unit, along with the Lexington and Burlington police departments and the Massachusetts State Police responded to aid in the search, but the suspect was not found last night.

Bedford Police are also reviewing video surveillance footage from the scene. Images from the video surveillance are not yet available, but will be released when they become available.

“We are thankful that the victim was not seriously injured during this incident,” Chief Bongiorno said. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with information, or who saw someone fitting the description of the suspect, is asked to call the Bedford Police Department at 781-275-1212.
