Bedford Police Arrest Brookline Bank Robbery Suspect

Police Chief Robert Bongiorno reports that the Bedford Police Department arrested a man this morning in connection with the robbery of the Bedford branch of Brookline Bank last month.

Patrick Gefrich, 35, of Salemwas arrested and taken into custody this morning outside his home on Essex Street in Salem and is being charged with one count of Unarmed Bank Robbery.

“I commend the strong teamwork by Bedford Police and all of the departments who assisted us,” Chief Bongiorno said. “This was truly a joint effort by all parties involved that allowed us to capture this dangerous felon.”

The Brookline Bank, located at 168 The Great Road in Bedford, was robbed on Sept. 18. The suspect allegedly approached a teller and made a verbal demand for cash. No note was passed and no weapon was shown.

Gefrich is being held at the Bedford Police Department, and will be transported this afternoon to Concord District Court, where he will be arraigned on one count of unarmed robbery. Gefrich is also wanted on multiple warrants out of Milford District Court.

Bedford Police were assisted by the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, Massachusetts State Police, and Salem Police.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
