The Davis and Lane School’s BEST/PTO is now collecting used electronics to recycle. Our goal is to raise funds for BEST/PTO while helping preserve our environment by keeping these items out of landfills.

BEST/PTO is partnering with Cartridges for Kids® (CFK), who specializes in recycling used cell phones, laser and inkjet printer ink/toner cartridges, laptops, MP3 players/iPods, PDAs, tablets, iPads, eReaders, and notebooks. The CFK program helps thousands of non-profit organizations nationwide learn the importance of recycling while fundraising.

Funds raised through the CFK program will support enrichment programs at the schools, and help to purchase school equipment and supplies.

How can you help?

Many people have used printer ink/toner cartridges, cell phones, laptops, MP3 players/iPods, and other electronic items they do not know how to dispose of, so they send these items to a landfill. We encourage community members and businesses to donate their used items to BEST/PTO’s recycling program instead! The items do not need to be in working order. Ink and toner cartridges should not have already been recycled. Cell phones with cracked screens are acceptable.

Items can be dropped in the collection box at Bedford’s Town Center Building (12 Mudge Way) starting in mid-February. The collection box is located on the Second floor of the Town Center building near the Community bulletin boards, and the Youth & Family Services office. Signs are posted above the box listing acceptable items.

For pickups of a large number of items, or to host a collection box at your office or business, please email Michele Waldron and Shaena Grossman at [email protected]
