Did you hear the jets that buzzed over Bedford early this afternoon?

According to a Tweet from Hanscom Air Base, they were F16s from the 158th Fighter Wing in Vermont, headed to Fenway for a ceremonial flyover marking the Red Sox season opener.

At Fenway, Airmen from Hanscom Air Force Base lined up along the Green Monster as the two F-16s flew overhead. Hanscom’s Patriot Honor Guard presented the colors in shallow center field, and David Ortiz’s daughter sang the Star Spangled Banner.

Although the Sox lost to the Orioles, Bedford’s hometown heroes watched four Boston sports legends throw out opening pitches to start the season. According to the Boston Globe, Ty Law (NE Patriots), Bobby Orr (Boston Bruins), Bill Russell (Boston Celtics), and David Ortiz each “threw a pitch over the mound.”
