Massachusetts History Day: Statewide Competition Comes to Bedford on Saturday, April 9

National History Day 2016 LogoMassachusetts History Day, the statewide finals of the National History Day competition will come to Bedford High School on Saturday, April 9.  Middle and High School students from around the Commonwealth will submit courageously to the critical eyes of judges their history research projects.

Students have worked individually or in teams of up to five students to research any historical topic of their choosing but focused on a common theme, “Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History.” Students can present their research and argument in one of 5 media categories: documentary, exhibit, paper, performance or website.

Eight projects from Bedford High School have qualified for the state competition and will be up against the best in the Commonwealth:

Bedford High School history teachers who have guided the students and their projects include James Sunderland, Dave Boschetto, and Pat Culhane.

The judging portion of the competition takes place in the morning with the ocumentaries and performances open to the public.  Exhibits, papers and websites are judged privately, but are open for public viewing in the early afternoon.
