The rain on a recent Friday (known as liquid sunshine to some Scouts) did not deter Troop 194 from their planned camping trip. Saturday cleared up, and allowed for cooking over open fires, GAGA ball competitions, and a short mile and a half hike.

Senior Scout Alan Wang was head cook of his patrol and prepared marinated steak, shrimp fried rice, Dutch oven pizza, and cherry cola cake. Senior Scout Cy Conley showed his nature knowledge, identifying tree species, lichen, and mushrooms for the younger scouts. GAGA ball, a game which is like dodge ball, proved to be very competitive, physically challenging, and extremely fun and entertaining.

On April 18, Troop 194 joined the Bedford Minutemen at Fitch Tavern to hike the Bedford Flag trail,  a nationally approved historic trail that follows the line of march that the Bedford Minutemen walked to Concord on April 19, 1775. Two hundred and forty one years ago to the day we would have been right in the thick of things.

Since 2002, historic trail markers have line the route from Bedford to Concord. The markers were dedicated on Bedford’s poll capping day that year when Troop 194 presented the signs to the town.

This year as planned we arrived in Concord in time for a delicious pancake breakfast and in time to see the exciting Concord Patriots day parade. Mr. Ji Su, Henry Su, Mr. Allan Coady, Mr. Ken Scheyder, Mr. Chip Corbin, Wyatt Corbin, Ms Christine Corbin, Alan Wang, Jalan, Pedonesi, Mr. Mark Maurice and Cameron Maurice were among the marchers.

Scouts from Reading Pack 702 joined the Bedford Scouts for hike, and it was a good trip that was enjoyed by all.
