The Selectmen approved using a portion of the FY 2017 Chapter 90 funds for road resurfacing in two Bedford neighborhoods at their May 16 meeting.
These neighborhoods – Houlton Street and Elmbrook. The Houlton neighborhood includes Houlton Street, Masardis Street, Woodland Road, Sibley Drive, Perham Street, Caribou Street, and Madawaska Street. The Elmbrook neighborhood includes both Elmbrook Road off The Great Road and off Page Road, Elmbrook Circle, Cedar Ridge Drive, and Cedar Ridge Terrace.
The road reconstruction in the coming season will include grinding and re-paving the existing roads. Portions of the roads will have to be closed at certain times while the work is underway.
Town Engineer Adrienne St. John said the neighborhoods are self-contained, and have low traffic volume. She anticipates the work could begin as early as the second week in July.
