A community-wide gathering on Bedford Common is planned for 7 pm on Thursday, June 16. “We will grieve; support each other; honor the dead and their suffering; unite against hatred and bigotry; and pray for peace,” said Parish Minister Rev. Megan Lynes, of First Parish, Unitarian Universalist.

The press release for the gathering goes on to say, “This will be an open, multi-religious space, and healing words will come from various traditions.  Those gathered may join in prayer as they are willing and able.

“Members of the GLBTQIA+ community and Muslims are welcome with open arms.

“To be clear, no matter what your theology or politics concerning same-sex relationships may be, this will be an affirming space of unconditional love and support. Any blame towards the victims or the GLBTQIA+ community or against Islam will have no place at this vigil. Our liberation is interconnected.  We stand together.

“Please join us in unity, love, and support to honor the lives lost in Orlando.”
