2016 Annual Town Meeting, an Update: Attorney General Approves Zoning Bylaws

Planning BoardThe Town has received confirmation that all six of the zoning bylaw amendments passed at the 2016 Annual Meeting have been approved by the Massachusetts Attorney General. The Town Clerk has posted the final notices that are required.

The zoning amendments are deemed to take effect from the date of Town Meeting votes (March 28-29).

The relevant Town Meeting articles are:

  • Article 9 – Package involving use, dimensional, density, bulk and other provisions in Industrial and certain Business districts
  • Article 10 – Amendments to Bedford zoning map (affected properties are along Middlesex Turnpike)
  • Article 11 – Adjust dimensional and density requirements within Industrial and certain Business districts to more closely align with the existing development pattern
  • Article 12 – Building height
  • Article 13 – Revised flood insurance rate maps (revises Floodplain District to incorporate updates to Shawsheen River floodplain)
  • Article 14 – Limited Business District (amends treatment of certain uses)
