Bedford Rotary Club Update: Honors Conferred and New Officer Elected

Rotary InternationalThe Bedford Rotary Club took 2nd Place honors as The Best Rotary Club of the Year at the Annual Conference of Rotary District 7910 in Plymouth.  The 51 Rotary Clubs in the District vie for the annual top club billing based on their accomplishments during the year.  District 7910 geographically encompasses central Massachusetts.  The honor was conferred at the District Awards ceremonies that took place during the Annual Conference weekend of May 20-22.  In addition, Bedford Rotary was awarded the 2nd Place District Presidential Citation, the Vocational Service Award and the District Presidential Citation for Interact Clubs.

Installation of New Officers

Linda Cargiuolo was installed as the 2016-17 President of the Bedford Rotary Club at evening ceremonies held at the Doubletree Bedford Glen Hotel on Tuesday, June 28.  Linda’s is the 60th presidency of the club which was founded in 1956.  She succeeds Diana Jarvis, stepping up to President after having served as President-Elect, and Club Secretary over the two previous years.

Also installed as 2016-17 officers were Jacqueline Apsler (President-Elect), Joel Berenson (Treasurer), and Marc Hamilton (Secretary).  July 1st marks the beginning of the 2016-17 term for both officers and members of the Board of Directors of The Bedford Rotary Club.  Directors include, Debi Malone, Britton Wilson, Robert Cassidy and Art Smith.

Outgoing President Diana Jarvis also honored numerous Bedford Rotarians for their contributions and service to the Club over the past year.  Debi Malone, Robert Cassidy and Marc Hamilton were each named Rotarian of the Year.  Devon Messecar and Christine Pinney each received Outstanding Community Service Awards.
