A multi-generational gathering of family, friends, and Bedford Summer Basketball League (BSBL) teammates were “locked into the energy of the night,” according to Commissioner Mike Dirrane, as the group came together on July 14 to dedicate the league’s 2016 season to Dave Temperio and Jim Harrington, long-time participants in the summer league who died within the past year.
Amy Hamilton of the Recreation Department said,”People are what make Bedford a great community, and there have been manyremarkable people such as Dave and Jim. They have left their marks on the town, and Bedford is a better place because they were part of it.”
Family members received plaques commemorating the season’s dedication along with t-shirts that will be given to the members of this year’s championship teams. The back of each shirt notes the season’s dedication to Timperio and Harrington.
The 2016 Championship
The final week of BSBL play begins on Monday, July 18, and the championships for the 11 teams in the league’s A and B divisions will begin at 6:45 pm on August 4.
In case of rain, the games will be played in the Bedford High School gymnasium.
