The DASH, Bedford’s 2-year local transportation pilot program, will begin service on September 12, 2016, and riders can start requesting service on September 8 and 9.
The DASH does not replace the BLT or the current MBTA service, but rather expands service for Bedford riders.
The DASH will operate between the hours of 12 noon and 6 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), and provides service within Bedford as well as to the neighboring towns of Concord and Burlington.
Exact fare is required for each trip. The Selectmen confirmed that fares for the new Expanded Local Transit Program (The DASH) will be the same as the current fares for the Bedford Local Transit (BLT) at their meeting on September 6, 2016. Adults (ages 18-65) will pay $2 in town and $4 out-of-town; Medicare Card Holders, Disabled persons, and Seniors (age 65+) will pay $1 in town and $2 out-of-town. Youth (under 18) will pay $1 in town and $2 out-of-town.
The 14- passenger vehicle will be on view and in the Parade on Bedford Day. To make reservations call 275-DASH.
Editor’s Note: To initiate this two-year pilot program, the Town received a $47,000 grant from the Department of Transportation. For background, see an earlier article in The Citizen: https://bit.ly/2c68fXj
