Biking to Bedford Day

Riding your bike to Bedford Day is good in ever so many ways: it’s healthy exercise, an efficient way to move quickly through traffic, and a boon to the environment.

To facilitate your ride to Bedford Day, Bedford’s Bicycle Advisory Committee will operate a Bike Corral, adjacent to the playground and Mudge Way, offering safe storage for your cycle while you and your family enjoy the fair.

The Bike Corral has served Bedford Day for years — this is its 20th incarnation — and organizers would like to break their previous record by storing 100 bicycles on Saturday.

Watch for our follow-up story about the number of bikes in the corral.

Further booth updates

And here are more updates about booth activities at the fair:

Bedford Embraces Diversity: Located near Town Center (the yellow building), Bedford Embraces Diversity will have a bake sale; visitors will be asked “What’s on Your Mind?” about diversity in Bedford.

Bedford Destination Imagination: Representatives from DI will be available to answer parent and student questions. And we will have an M&M instant challenge for kids to try!

Bedford Historical Society: The Historical Society’s big Bedford Flag float will be following closely behind the Citizen of the Year in the parade.  The Society’s booth will have some amusing and interesting displays of historic textiles and strange ways that people took care of them before automatic washing machines and wrinkle-free fabrics took over.

Bedford Minuteman Company: “Huzzah!!  Interested in becoming a Bedford Minuteman?  Or perhaps having your own Bedford Flag?  Please stop by the Bedford Minuteman Company booth #139 on Bedford Day!!”

CSF of Bedford Dollars for Scholars: Visitors to the booth can fill out a “thank you card” for one or several of your favorite teachers, also reach into the famous “blue whale” for a handful of candy. Learn more about CSF and its mission to provide scholarships for graduating seniors and talk with longtime members and friends of the organization.

Frank W. Thompson Masonic Lodge: After hosting the Danny Oates 5k Road Race first thing in the morning, the Masons will be selling popcorn at the Fair.
