Letter to the Editor, October 20, 2016: Endorsements

Submitted by Rep. Ken Gordon (D, Bedford)

Letter-to-the-EditorThe Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) awarded State Representative Ken Gordon (D-Bedford) its 2016 Partners in Community Prosperity Award after hosting a forum in which it heard from Rep. Gordon and his Republican challenger in his campaign for re-election.

“I am delighted that the local business community recognized my balanced approach to governing, and that I invite input from every aspect of the community, “ said Gordon, who was previously recognized with the award from the BACC in 2014. “My focus has been on the residents and businesses of Burlington, and how I can make life better for my constituents. The Burlington businesses who know me best recognize who has been standing up for them for the past four years and who is in the best position to do so in the future.”

“[Gordon’s] legislation will make life easier for working people. He consults with small businesses to make sure it does not overburden our employers,” said BACC president Rick Parker. “His approach is fair and data driven. We appreciate the reliability.”

Gordon received the Advocacy Award from the Middlesex 3 Coalition in 2014 and continues to work closely with that group of business and local government leaders.  Together they have introduced a series of shuttle buses that take workers into Burlington each day, thereby reducing Burlington traffic.

Gordon was previously endorsed by all five members of the Burlington School Committee, Chair Steve Nelson, Tom Murphy, Christine Monaco, Kristin Russo and Martha Simon.  He was endorsed by four of the five Burlington Selectmen, Chair Dan Grattan, Chris Hartling, Bob Hogan and Mike Runyan.  In Bedford, Gordon has been endorsed by all 10 Selectmen and School Committee members.

“As one of your Burlington Selectmen, I can tell you that Ken stands up for Burlington every day,” said Runyan.  “Nobody has fought harder.”

Said Bedford Selectman Mike Rosenberg, “Our community is truly in the midst of a unique era of legislative excellence under Rep. Gordon.”

Along with local endorsements, Rep. Gordon has also been endorsed by Congressman Seth Moulton and organizations such as the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, the Environmental League of Massachusetts, the Sierra Club, and the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists.
