Rotary InternationalFor years, The Rotary Club of Bedford has had a special interest in community service for our honored and appreciated Veterans. Rotarians have been involved with assisting on a weekly basis on the wards, at special events, painting murals, assisting with veteran art therapy, assisting with trips out to lunch, fishing events, and taking Veterans to the Lowell Spinners.

Under the leadership of Debi Malone and in partnership with the Operation Delta Dog promoting the Service Dog support system has become the club’€™s latest and most meaningful challenge.

This involvement is an especially inspirational activity because the project begins with two profound points of focus.

  1. Rescuing dogs that are scheduled for euthanizing and
  2. Directly involving a Veteran in this dog rescuing process.

The result is that the dog not only needs the Veteran and the Veterans needs the dog. This profound partnership can save the lives of many and have a huge impact not only for the veteran but even more importantly for the entire veteran’s family.

Operation Delta Dog is a nonprofit organization with a mission to rescue homeless dogs and train them to work as service dogs for veterans who are suffering from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and related challenges.
