Champagne…Chinese food…partying with friends and family…a bowl of chili and a favorite movie queued up for watching… However you celebrate it, the end of the year is upon us.  Few would deny it’s been an eventful  12 months with “news” being a central topic in and of itself.  We’ve even had the spectre of “fake news” raised along with other serious questions about how responsible journalism is defined.

At The Citizen we remain focused on our core mission: free, reliable, objective reporting of local news to inform and encourage active participation in our community life.  We believe good citizenship starts locally.  Your end-of-year contribution will ensure that we are able to keep doing our part in the complicated network of information that underlies and illuminates the democracy we treasure.

On behalf of The Citizen, I extend to all our readers and supporters the warmest wishes of the holiday season for health, peace, and joy.  We are grateful for your loyalty and look forward to continuing to serve Bedford in 2017…and beyond.
