Bedford’s 2017 Town Election Season is Underway

Town of Bedford New SealTown Clerk Doreen Tremblay has announced Bedford’s 2017 election calendar.

Candidates wishing to run for a particular office by collecting signatures of registered voters may collect nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office now through January 13. The Citizens’ Caucus in early January is another route for getting on the Town Election ballot.

Citizens’ Caucus: Tuesday, January 10, 2017
The Caucus meets at 7:00 pm in the Town Hall Multipurpose Room to determine caucus nominees for the following positions on the 2017 Town Election ballot

  • Assessors: 1 position for a three-year term; the current Assessor whose term expires this year is Zoe Pierce
  • Bedford Housing Authority: 1 position for a five-year term; the current Bedford Housing Authority member whose term expires this year is Jane Puffer
  • Board of Health: 2 positions for three-year terms; the current Board of Health members whose terms expire this year are Thomas Kinzer and Mary Seymour
  • Library Trustees: 2 positions for three-year terms; the current Library Trustees whose terms expire this year are Rachel Field and Lynne O’Connor
  • Planning Board: 2 positions for three-year terms; the current Planning Board members whose terms expire this year are Lisa Mustapich and Sandra Hackman
  • School Committee: 2 positions for three-year terms; the current Selectmen whose terms expire this year are Edward Pierce and Ann Guay
  • Selectmen: 2 positions for three-year terms; the current Selectmen whose terms expire this year are Michael Rosenberg and Mark Siegenthaler who has decided not to seek reelection.

Last day to obtain nomination papers for Bedford’s 2017 Town Election:January 13, 2017

Last day to return signed nomination papers for certification in the Town Election: January 17, 2017

Last day to object or withdraw from the Town Election ballot: February 6, 2017

Last day to register to vote in the Town Election: February 17, 2017
In the Town Clerk’s Office from 8 am to 4 pm and at the Police Station from 4 to 5 pm

Town Election: Saturday, March 11, 2017
Polls will be open at the John Glenn Middle School, McMahon Road from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Annual Town Meeting: Monday, March 27, 2017
Annual Town Meeting convenes at 7:30 p.m. in the Bedford High School Auditorium
