On December 30 and 31, the Bedford 8th grade “Blue” boys basketball team took part in the Holiday JamFest hosted by Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro. In their 5-team group were teams from Norwood, Westwood, Bellingham, and Dighton-Rehoboth, and the entire tournament featured 134 teams (boys and girls) from grades 4-8.

Friday afternoon at 2:40 Bedford took the court against the Bellingham Blackhawks and ran away with the game from the opening whistle, cruising to a 45-17 victory in a rematch of a February 2016 game between these same two teams.

After a short break (that featured most of the team watching North Attleboro defeat Leominster), Bedford flipped their jerseys from white to blue and faced the Norwood Mustangs. The Bucs led for much of the game, including holding a 20-10 halftime lead, but parried away a furious late-game comeback to hold on for a 35-29 victory in a game that ended just before 6 pm.

After a restful evening, on Saturday afternoon the boys took on the Westwood Wolverines, winning in emphatic fashion, 52-30. With a 3-0 record, the Bucs topped their 5-team group and bade farewell to 2016 in the best way possible- posing for a team picture while wearing their division champion t-shirts.

Bedford 8th grade Blue will take the court on Saturday the 6th at 3:30 pm at Davis School against Norwood.
