Election ~ 2017: Letter to the Editor, Robin Grace Silbert for Library Trustee

By Linda Pollitz

I am supporting Robin Grace for Bedford Public Library trustee on Saturday, March 11.

Robin has been a long time and active member of the Bedford community, having served as chair of Celebrating Differences, METCO, and Hospitality, as well as a past member of POMS and Bedford Education Foundation. Currently, she actively serves on the boards of Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation, Carlton-Willard, and the Friends of the Bedford Public Library.

As part of the Bedford Strategic Planning focus group last year, Robin learned that many residents are not aware of all the Bedford Library has to offer, thus hopes to promote greater awareness of Library events and services and encourage use of the Library by residents. It is also admirable that she promises to “work to ensure our library stays current with technological advances, and help chart its course going forward to meet the needs of our town’s changing demographic.”

Robin’s passion for literature and appreciation of the importance of books and reading goes back to her early childhood. She describes it best by saying “Books were my passport to the world.” To that end, she will work to support one of the library’s most important missions: to foster a love of reading in young people that will continue through their lives.

It is for these reasons that I support Robin Grace for Library Trustee.
