Election ~ 2017: Letter to the Editor, Sarita Pillai for Library Trustee

By Hima Naidu

I am writing to tell Bedford voters why I am supporting Sarita Pillai for Library Trustee of the Bedford Free Public Library.

I have known Sarita for about four years now and we met as we researched for day care for our kids and subsequently became friends. I personally know Sarita to be a very dedicated Bedford resident who volunteers her time with the schools, her church and with Bedford’s growing Indian community. Sarita and I have collaborated closely on the Bedford Diwali event and she is a very reliable resource and always comes through. With all the changes that Bedford has experienced in the years I have lived here, I think the timing is excellent for a candidate like Sarita to take on a leadership position with our town and represent the diverse community we have here.

The library is such a central resource to our town especially for families with young children and I personally use it and feel it is a great resource for enrichment.  Sarita has an excellent working knowledge of the needs and issues that families want the library to consider and prioritize.  As a working mother of two children, I know that time is a scarce commodity.  The fact that Sarita is willing to take this on in addition to her other work and personal commitments shows her dedication to our town  She is doing this for us, I am grateful to her for taking the challenge on. I am confident Sarita will be an excellent job managing whatever is the task laid out to her for the library trustee.

Other letters have already discussed the importance of her academic and professional expertise, so I do not need to re-state how strong a candidate she is from that perspective. We are lucky to have many qualified candidates running for town positions, but I think Sarita is uniquely qualified and has all the credentials to do an excellent job as Library Trustee.

Please come to polls on March 11 and vote for Sarita Pillai for Library Trustee.  You will not regret your decision.
