The Bedford Citizen: We’re Kicking Off Our 2017 Fundraising Campaign

By Ginni Spencer, President, The Bedford Citizen

Kick off…kick start…but let’s not parse words.  The plain truth is we are asking you to “kick in”: would you consider making a donation to The Bedford Citizen for our 2017 Fundraising Campaign?

At The Citizen, we specialize in the plain truth.  Facts and objectivity are our highest values. Our goal is to inform our readers and encourage active citizen participation.  We’re on-line, reliable, and we publish multiple times a week to email subscribers and Facebook and Twitter followers.

Oh…did I mention we are also free?

Well, kind of.

We don’t charge for subscriptions and we don’t use advertising as a source of revenue  – The Citizen is offered free to you.  But we do pay our writers, Managing Editor and Community Editor, IT consultant and software and server providers.  We have administrative expenses.  We are a stand-alone entity dependent on grants and donations.  Despite the hundreds and hundreds of hours of volunteer time logged in 2016 by a large number of readers, content contributors, photographers, and the 13 members of our Board of Directors, we can’t develop and deliver The Citizen on a cost-free basis.  This is where you come in.

We are asking for your financial support.  Our goal this year is $34,000.  As of the public start of our 2017 campaign, we have raised $10,000.  We want to maintain The Citizen as the go-to source for local news: reliable, on-line, free.

Would you please send a check today (PO Box 212, Bedford, MA) or click on our DONATE button? We’ll be (I just have to say it) kicking up our heels with gratitude!

The Bedford Citizen is a 501(c)3 corporation and your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
