Bedford friends of all ages came out on Sunday, July 23 to celebrate Matty Langone’s 13^th birthday. It was a beautiful summer day to share memories of Matty who succumbed to neuroblastoma cancer on September 22, 2009, and to also raise awareness for The Friends of Matty Foundation, Inc. The non-profit, 501(c)3 foundation supports area families who are dealing with pediatric cancers.

Set up near the bike path on the corner of South Road and Railroad Avenue, the lemonade stand, face painting, raffle baskets, tee shirt and slime sales drew bikers, friends of the Langone family, and the Bedford community at large.

Bonnie McCulloch, event organizer commented, “It was a beautiful day celebrating a very special boy. The Lemonade Stand comes together each year with the help of many people from the Bedford community. People are wonderful about donating supplies and their time. The kids are the ones who truly run the stand on the day. Proceeds from today will specifically benefit new basketball hoops for the Lane School.I am so grateful that we live in a town with such a generous heart and where there is support for The Friends of Matty Foundation, Inc.”
