Wedgewood’s Second Swim and Dive Meet at Heritage Swim Club in Concord

On Saturday, July 8th, Wedgewood Swim Club was hosted by Heritage Club of Concord for its second swim and dive meet of the season.

It was a strong showing for both swim and dive, resulting in a win for the dive team but a loss overall for the dual meet.

In the dive portion of the competition, strong performances were delivered by Taelor Nichols and Willow McGinness (2nd and 4th places, respectively, for ages 10 and under), Isabella Seldon, Isabelle Wilson and Sophia Demeo (1st, 3rd, and 4th places for ages 12 and under), Maya Driscoll and Maxwell Weisz (1st and 2nd for ages 14 and under), and Caitlin Pequeno (1st for ages 17 and under).

For 6 and under, Brielle Carman earned first place in her two races: 12-yard backstroke and 12-yard freestyle.  Other standout performances were given by Grace Venuti, Mary Siciliano and Adam Silver, who all placed in both races.

Swimming for 8 and under, top place finishes went to Delaney Bertos (25-yard butterfly and 25-yard freestyle) and Teresa Silver (25-yard breaststroke) while points were also earned for the club by Claire Wirth (butterfly and free), Amelia Bullard andSophia Demeo (breaststroke), Jocelyn Bullard, Will Siciliano, and Owen Brough (freestyle), as well as Lucy Scoville and Gabe Favalora (backstroke).

In 10 and under, Grace Weisz earned first in Girls Individual Medley (IM), while Zach Wirth took that honor for the boys. Zach also came first in 50-yard breaststroke.  Andrew Scoville earned second place in 25-yard butterfly as well as third in 25-yard backstroke; Matthew Tonini came second in both boys IM and 50-yard free while McKenna Wilson earned 1st in backstroke and 3rd in freestyle.  Points were also earned by Katie Dillon (IM), Aliyah Lussier (backstroke), Ethan Washington (backstroke and freestyle), Alex Brough (freestyle), Samantha Kinch, Devin Leida and Logan McGinness (breaststroke), as well as Liliana Carman and Ani Eskandarian (butterfly).

For 12 and under, strong performances were delivered by Charlotte Weber (2nd in IM and 50-yard free), Sarah Tonini (1st in breaststroke and 3rd in IM), Sofie Huntington (2nd in butterfly), while points were also earned for the team by Ann Girifalco (butterfly), Sebastian Woolnough (butterfly and breaststroke), Kenny Doucet (breaststroke and freestyle), Sally MacPhee (freestyle), and Charlie Siciliano (freestyle).

In 100-yard Individual Medley, Alexandra Zorn, Isabella Seldon, Lily Nemirovsky, Caitlin Pequeno, and Chris Wirth, and Timothy Dillon all placed in their different age brackets, with Nemirovsky coming in first for Girls 15-17 and Zorn coming second for Girls 13-14.

Other notable performances were given by Julia Doucet (1st in butterfly and 1st in backstroke), Megan Demeo (1st in breaststroke and 2nd in butterfly), Jimmy McGinn (1st in freestyle), Maxwell Weisz (2nd in butterfly), George Rackey (2nd in breaststroke), Noelle Hebert (2nd in backstroke), while points were also earned by Kyle McGinn, Caroline Towle,Melissa Driscoll, Sabrina Harris, Madeleine Woolnough, Sophia Seldon, Timothy Dillon, and Josh Huntingdon.

Wedgewood will face off with Westford on Saturday, July 15th at Westford.
