Wedgewood Wins Last Meet of the Regular Season

On Saturday, July 29th, Wedgwood Swim Club hosted the Swim Pro Aquatics Gators swim team from Groton for the last swim meet of the regular season.  Wedgewood won the overall meet with a score of 456 to 127.

For 6 and under boys,Zachary Hallet placed 1st in 12-yard backstroke and 2nd in 12-yard freestyle.Brielle Carman placed 1st in both events for the girls, with Mary Siciliano coming in 2nd in both.

In the 8 and under age group, top finishes went to Teresa Silver(25-yard butterfly and backstroke), Amelia Bullard (25-yard breaststroke), Gabe Favalora(25-yard backstroke), and William Siciliano (25-yard freestyle).  William also earned a 2nd place spot in 25-yard backstroke, as did Theo Mattson and Claire Wirth (both 25-yard freestyle), Owen Brough(25-yard breaststroke), and Gabe Favalora (25-yard butterfly).

Swimming for 10 and under, Grace Weisz placed 1st in Girls Individual Medley (IM), while Zachary Wirth took 1st for the Boys IM.  Grace also placed 1st in the 50-yard breaststroke, while Zachary took 2nd in the same event for the boys.  Samantha Kinch placed 2nd in the 50-yard breaststoke.  Second place for IM went to Liliana Carman for the girls and Charles Demeo for the boys.  Charles also took 1st place in the 50-yard freestyle and Liliana took 1st place in 25-yard backstroke.  Second place for 50-yard freestyle went to Charlie Siciliano and 2nd place for 25-yard backstroke went to Katie Dillon.  Charlie Siciliano also placed 1st in 25-yard backstroke.  In the 25-yard butterfly, Katie Dillon (1st) and McKenna Wilson (2nd) placed for the girls while Logan McGinness placed 2nd for the boys.  McKenna Wilson also placed 1st for 50-yard freestyle and Samantha Kinch placed 2nd.

For 12 and under, Kitty Warhover took 1st place in the Girls IM and the 50-yard freestyle.  Second place for 50-yard freestyle went to Ann Girifalco and Kenny Doucet.  In 50-yard butterfly, Isabella Seldon placed 1st and Sally MacPhee placed 2nd.  Sebastian Woolnough placed 1st for the boys in 50-yard butterfly and 2nd in 50-yard breaststroke.  Sofie Huntington placed 2nd in the 50-yard breaststroke for the girls.  50-yard backstroke 1st place went to Sally MacPhee while Samantha Brough took 2nd.  For the boys 50-yard backstroke, Kenny Doucet took 2nd place.

In the 14 and under age group, strong performances were given by Alexandra Zorn (1stin girls 100-yard IM and 2nd in 50-yard breaststroke), George Rackey (1st in boys 100-yard IM and 50-yard freestyle), Katherine Vaughan (1st in 50-yard butterfly and 50–yard backstroke), Maxwell Weisz (1st in 50-yard breaststroke), and Madeleine Woolnough (1st in 50-yard freestyle and 2nd in 50-yard backstroke),

In the 17 and under group, Lily Nemirovsky placed 1st for the Girls IM and 50-yard breaststroke.  Caitlin Pequeno took 2nd in the Girls 100-yard IM and 50-yard backstroke.  For the 50-yard butterfly, Sophia Seldon  placed 1st and Julia Palazzo took 2nd for the girls, while Timothy Dillon placed 1st for the boys.  Sophia Seldon also placed 2nd in the 50-yard breaststroke.  In the 100-yard freestyle, Julia Doucet placed 1st and Julia Palazzo 2nd, while Timothy Dillon placed 1st for the boys.  Julia Doucet also took 1st place in 50-yard backstroke.

Wedgewood had two teams tie for 1st place in the Girls 100-yard Medley Grad Relay.  The two teams consisted of Julia Doucet, Sofie Huntington, Sally MacPhee and Katie Dillon and Caitlin Pequeno, Isabella Seldon, Alexandra Zorn and Samantha Kinch.  The boys took 2nd place in their 100-yard Medley Grad Relay (Kenny Doucet, Zachary Wirth, Charles Demeo and Maxwell Weisz).

In the 200-yard Freestyle Grad Relay, Wedgewood took 1st and 2nd place for the girls and 1st place for the boys.  The 1st place girls team included Teresa Silver, McKenna Wilson, Kitty Warhover, Katherine Vaughan, and Lily Neminrovsky.  The 2nd girls place team was Sophia Demeo, Grace Weisz, Ann Girifalco, Madeleine Woolnough and Julia Palazzo.  The 1st place boys team included Gabe Favalora, Alex Brough, Sebastian Woolnough, George Rackey, and Timothy Dillon.
