The Town of Bedford seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position of Assistant Treasurer/Collector in the Finance Department
This position assists the Finance Director, Treasurer/Collector with the receipt, management, and disbursement of all funds of the Town. Candidates for this position must possess exceptional public service, administrative and clerical skills. Responsibilities include assisting in payroll processing and benefits administration, reconciliation of bank accounts, debt management, budgeting, billing and collections, A/R and other assigned projects. The position requires frequent contact with the public and Town departments.
This position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree, although Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, in Business Finance and/or Accounting with three to five years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the Massachusetts Municipal Treasurers and Collectors Association desirable, and/or must be obtained. Applicants should have excellent skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Quicken. Must be eligible to be bonded. Experience in a state or municipal government finance function and familiarity with the statutes, regulations and related software applications in municipal finance preferred.
The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entry FY 2018 starting salary range for this position is $55,415.52 to $63,725.76 depending on experience and education. The Town of Bedford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
