Shawsheen Valley Tech finished their Fall sports season with a football game last Thursday against Assabet Valley. The winter sports preseason schedule started on Saturday when Bedford High and Shawsheen Tech went head to head in boys basketball and ice hockey.

The boys basketball game was at Shawsheen Tech gym and was closed to the public; however, the Ice hockey game was open to the public and featured spirited play at Hallenberg Rink in Billerica.

If you missed seeing some friends at the town tree lighting ceremony, they might have been at the scrimmage, as the game was well attended.

Unlike a traditional three-period game, the scrimmage ran straight through for 60 minutes on the clock.

Although penalties were called, no one sat in the penalty box.  The highlight of this scrimmage is that everyone gets to play, including multiple goalies on each team.

My camera did enjoy that the roof of the rink has a reflective surface so the rink was well lit.
