The promise of Winter Storm Grayson held true into Thursday evening:, although the National Weather Service predicts the storm will begin to abate around 7 pm on Thursday. Other models include snow showers until nearly midnight. Both predict a return to bone-chilling cold with sunny skies on Friday.
Snowfall began around 7 am on Thursday, and throughout the day the barometric pressure fell from 30.15 inches or 1022.9 millibars at 5 pm on Wednesday to 28.9 inches of 980.3 millibars at 5 pm on Thursday. A bombogenesis event is marked by a drop of more than 24 millibars in 24 hours.
An unofficial “snow stick” maintained by John Sullivan measured 11.5 inches at 6:30 pm.
School closings for Bedford or Shawsheen Tech have not been posted at 6 pm; The Citizen will share the word as soon as it comes in.
