Air Force Reserve Conducts Mobility Exercise through April 28

Compiled by The Bedford Citizen

Reserve Citizen Airmen with the 439th Contingency Response Flight out of Westover Air Reserve Base are leading a joint federal agency mobility exercise throughout this week, with aircraft occasionally visiting or flying over Hanscom Air Force Base.

As part of the exercise, the reservists will train with members of the FBI, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the California Expeditionary Fire Department. These teams will load and unload Air Force Reserve C-5 and C-17 airlifters. The aircraft will fly the equipment and people to various airports in New England and New York state.

CRF Airmen are tasked with flying equipment and resources all over the world in response to disasters and emergencies. The CRF falls under the Air Force Reserve Command’s 439th Airlift Wing, the host unit at Westover, which flies the C-5M Super Galaxy, the U.S. military’s largest aircraft.”

The above statement was provided by the Westover Air Reserve Base Public Affairs office. If you have any additional questions about this exercise, they can be reached at 413-557-2020.
