Wouldn’t it be great to have kids of every age involved in Bedford’s Minuteman Bikeway 25th Anniversary?
The anniversary will take place on Saturday, September 29. At their meeting on April 10, the Bicycle Advisory Committee considered offering a paint-the-sidewalk competition among the kids, and the possibility of taking a photo of everyone who shows up with their bikes. (For those who didn’t already know, Arlington celebrated their 25th-anniversary last year, but this year it’s Bedford’s turn to celebrate the quarter-century mark.)
MAPC Bike Share Network
MAPC bike share, a service where people can rent a bike by the hour via credit card, is definitely on its way, and the Town of Bedford gets to decide where these will work best. The bikes have geo-fencing and GPS to keep boundaries enforced.
There is no firm launch date yet.
The Bicycle Advisory Committee hopes that the VA Hospital and Middlesex Community College will be locations, as well as the major shopping areas. The bikes will have specific places where they should be returned, but it isn’t clear yet where the boundaries for use will be; it’s up to the town to decide.
