Compiled by The Bedford Citizen
Selecting a Citizen of the Year has been an annual tradition in Bedford since 1979. Nominations for the 2018 Citizen are available now by clicking here; all nominations are due on Tuesday, July 31.
Why should your favorite nominee be Bedford’s 2018 Citizen of the Year? Add a short discussion about the efforts extended by your nominee and the resulting benefits to the Town, affiliations, and organizations involved, including non-profit organizations or volunteer groups. Elected officials may not be selected while holding office; Town employees’ honors may not be associated with their current position. Prior services should be considered: either elected, voluntary or appointed Town positions or committees.
Your nomination must be a Bedford resident, but it can cover any time period and include additional letters or endorsement by others.
The Citizen of the Year is honored by:
- Riding in the Bedford Day Parade
- A reception at Old Town Hall coupled with the annual Bedford Minutemen Change of Command Ceremony
- Participation in the Annual Tree Lighting each December on the Common
