JGMS Softball Wins First of Their Three Games this Week

Gianna Mici was throwing smoke and K’d nine batters

The JGMS girls softball team came up victorious over Stony Brook of Westford today with the final score 2 to 1.

Gianna Mici pitched the game of her life, hurling all seven innings with nine strikeouts along with 4 unassisted putouts of her own.

Ellie Mitchell went three for three with three stolen bases and scored once.

Bella Fernald went two for two with two singles, two stolen bases and scored the game-winning run.

Maggie Carluccio and Sydney Cox stepped up with key singles in the bottom of the seventh-inning to make the difference in the game.

The bottom of the seventh started off with the Bucs tied 1 to 1. Bella Fernald led off with a laser single to center followed by a perfectly executed bunt single by Maggie Carluccio, advancing Bella Fernald to third base. The final play of the game came down to a perfectly executed suicide squeeze with Sydney Cox bunting for a single and Bella Fernald scoring the game-winning run in dramatic fashion.

The Bucs improved to an impressive 8-1 record with home games Tuesday and Thursday at F Field. Come cheer on your JGMS softball team as they wrap up a nearly perfect season.
